My loved one, it is my prayer that you may do well in all things,

and be healthy in body, even as your soul does well. 3 John 1:2
- Basic English Bible

There may be some wondering why health initiatives are on this website. After all, we are not health professionals. But we do want everyone possible to be in good health. So if providing this information helps just one individual,  the intent of adding this information to the site has been accomplished. We will not offer any health advice, however we do encourage everyone reading this page to at least consider the information provided.

It is our intent to address the total person, mind, body, soul and spirit. We can all agree that the testimonies provided on other the  pages show that there is a need to address the body as well as the mind , soul and spirit.

We trust God. We know that He is a healer. We know that there is nothing too hard for him. We also know that all good and perfect things come from above. We know that it is He who has given mankind the knowledge and the wisdom to do all that they have accomplished, in all fields but especially in medicine.

[1]“God created us as intelligent beings and gave us the ability to create medicines and learn how to repair our bodies. There is nothing wrong with applying this knowledge and ability towards physical healing. Doctors can be viewed as God’s gift to us, a means through which God brings healing and recovery. At the same time, our ultimate faith and trust is to be in God, not in doctors or medicine. As with all difficult decisions, we should seek God who promises to give us wisdom when we ask for it (James 1:5)”.

All conditions and/or issues that affect our body are serious and some at some point can escalate to be life threating. We can’t include them all here, but some of the ones that are closely  monitored by doctors are listed. Again we are not  health care professionals, however, we do utilize the health care system ourselves.  As stated above, we will NOT provide any advice, the only suggestion we make is that the information provided be considered so that we can all share in a better quality of life.

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

What is high blood pressure?

High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is a serious condition that can lead to coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, and other health problems. About 1 in 3 adults in the United States has HBP. The condition itself usually has no signs or symptoms. You can have it for years without knowing it. During this time, though, HBP can damage your heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and other parts of your body.

Knowing your blood pressure numbers is important, even when you're feeling fine. If your blood pressure is normal, you can work with your health care team to keep it that way. If your blood pressure is too high, treatment may help prevent damage to your body's organs.

  1. High Blood pressure usually doesn’t usually have symptoms, but certain factors can increase our risk. If we already have high blood pressure, behavior and lifestyle choices can make it worse. These include:

  1. Being male-men are more likely to develop high blood pressure at an earlier age.

  2. Age- risk increases as we get older.

  3. Being overweight.

  4. Family history

  5. Race-high blood pressure is more common in African Americans

  6. Not being physically active

  7. Smoking and chewing tobacco

  8. Eating a high sodium or low potassium diet

  9. Drinking too much alcohol-more than 2 drinks a day for men or one for women

  10. Taking certain medicines-birth control pills, some over-the-counter cold medicines and pain relievers.

See a health care professional about changes you can make to lower your risk.

If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, be sure you take the prescribed medication as directed. (click here for more health issues)
