OVERCOMING THE AMPUTATION OF A BODY PART

HOW CAN I FEEL WHOLE AND COMPLETE AGAIN?

God created us in His image, in His likeness. In other words we were created perfect-whole and complete. However, there are times during this earthly walk, when even though we are complete we still do not feel whole. For one reason or another, we feel that there is something missing. We feel that we are lacking in one area or another. We see others as being perfect, but we feel that we are the epitome of imperfection. We find ourselves complaining that we are not pretty enough, we are too fat or too thin, too light or too dark, or not smart enough. However, most of these things are cosmetic, but what happens when life comes into play, when we lose a limb or a breast and we are no longer the perfect being that God created. How can we feel whole or complete when we lose a body part? How can we feel whole or complete when part of us is missing?

There are many who are faced with losing body parts.  Amputations or removal of a body part are often done to save a life due to diseases and/or accidents.  And while we all want to live as long as possible, losing that body part causes the amputee much pain and much grief and leaves them feeling incomplete and imperfect. While they are grateful to God Almighty for sparing their lives, they find themselves asking “why me?”

I do not have any personal experience in this area, however the testimony below is an excellent witness God's awesome power. I trust that this testimony will be beneficial to you especially if you have loss a body part or anticipating doing so, and that it will help you in your desire to feel whole and complete again.

Psalms118:17: "I shall not die but live and declare  the works of the Lord."

2 Corinthians 12:9: "He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee. For my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Personal Testimony

I praise God for His mercy and grace, the favor that He has shown me during my time of cancer. I never thought that I was pretty because I was never told this growing up. Of course I really found out what ugly really looked like after chemotherapy.

In 2009, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My first surgery was scheduled for February 1, 2010.

I checked into the hospital, had the surgery and went home the same day. The surgeon removed the cancerous vein from my breast along with other surrounding tissue. Everything that was removed was sent to laboratory for testing.  In about three days, I received a telephone call saying that all of the tissue that had been removed was cancerous. An appointment was made over the telephone for me to return on February 10th to have another operation. This time they would remove a larger area of my breast, the goal being to get it all this time. I had the second operation as scheduled. The tissue was removed and sent to the laboratory as before and the results came back just as before. This tissue too was cancerous.
