ON THE ROAD TO CONQUERING SUICIDAL THOUGHTS

CONQUERING THE THOUGHT OF SUICIDE:

THE THOUGHT OF SUICIDE

(WHAT CAN I DO TO FREE MY MIND? HOW DO I CHOOSE LIFE?)

There are many factors that contribute to suicidal thoughts. Loneliness, depression, death of a loved one, anger, bitterness, illness, despair and guilt are just a few of them. These can make a person feel so low, that suicide seems to be the only way out for them. Ironically, none of us are exempt from having these thoughts, for some they are passing thoughts, for others they are deep seated.

What can one do to rid themselves of these thoughts? How does one choose life over death? Since one is a Christian, are they exempt from these thoughts? How, if any way, do family members contribute to these thoughts? What affect does suicide have on family members?

I have first hand knowledge on  the impact suicide has on a family. When my family member committed suicide, it left our family wondering what we could have done differently that could have prevented this horriffic act from happening. We thought that since it had been almost two years since his previous suicide attempt, that he was delivered from these suicidal thoughts. However, what we later found out was that over this two year period, he was making plans to end his life.    He purchased life insurance, had his picture taken for his obituary, had his suit drycleaned, and finally he purchased the gun he used to take his life. He picked up the gun from the gun store and took his life one day after his life insurance policy took effect.

Since this is such a sensitive subject,  I feel that the CBN.com website is more qualified to discuss this topic than I am. I trust you or any family member contemplating suicide will click on the link below to obtain the information you or your family member needs to abort these thoughts. The Bible offers help to the weary and downtrodden. God has a plan for our lives. He offers us hope through His Word. If we call on the name of Jesus, we can receive salvation, hope, and deliverance. He has come to give us life, abundant life. Trust Him to fulfill his promise to us.
